The coutdown has now began......Dennis has gone into training for his first official race at the annual Upton-upon-Severn Point to Point. Dennis is going to take part in the pony racing which takes place in the morning, before the big races in the afternoon.
It has not been decided who is going to ride Dennis yet - there are trials during March to find the most suitable Jockey.
Dennis is being trained by Deni and the girls and this is what she had to say about the little shetland pony, 'Dennis was purchased last year by his owner who lives in Cheltenham, Dennis is a well loved pony on the yard and known locally for his super, kind temperament - he loves children, especially for breakfast!! Dennis was brought with the sole intention of racing him and he spent all last year doing the performance scheme so that he could take part, Dennis spent the winter being hunted and pony clubbed by children at the school. I don't want to give too much away about how we are going to train the little fellow, but suffice to say I will be riding him out most days to get him fit and we will be changing his diet to now include race horse food and of course lots and lots of carrots!'.
